Lumisena, viileänä talvipäivänä olin iloinen, että sujahdimme Pierre-kahvilan lämpöön, mutta saatoin kuvitella mielessäni torin lämminhenkiset joulumarkkinat ja kesäisen vilinän. Chez André on staili illallispaikka aivan keskustassa. Chef itse käy rupattelemassa asiakkaille ja on silminnähden innostunut ruoasta ja innovoinnista. Alkuruoaksi pöytään kannettiin ei yksi, ei kaksi, vaan kolme keittoa mitä mielikuvituksellisimmissa mauissa ja karamellipihvin kera maistui mansikkaglace. Konditoriatuotteet ovat myös ravintolan ylpeydenaihe ja niitä kannattaa käydä ostamassa tai tilata illallisen päätteeksi  pieni lajitelma.

Kesäisin voi rentoutua Peipsin hiekkarannoilla. Symppis Pierre tarjojaa mitä mainioimmat kaakaot – kaikilla mausteilla. Paarustin muutama viikko sitten Tarton piskuisia, lumisia katuja. Siitä huolimatta tässä Viron toiseksi suurimmassa kaupunkissa on jotain maagista.

Onneksi Sipulitien varrelta löytyi vielä muutama myyjä ja saimme ostettua sipulilettejä kotiin viemisiksikin. Pühasten pojat tekevät järjettömän persoonallisia ja maukkaita oluita Tartossa.

Viinilista on kattava ja paikassa voi nauttia myös lounasta tai illallista. Tätä paikkaa pyöritetään intohimolla, siitä omistajan tarina insinöörin hommista viinibaarin pitäjäksi kertoo. Näin vielä sipulitie market turistikauden kynnyksellä Berritta Giancarlolla oli aikaa istuskella kanssamme ja jutella sisilialaisista viineistä. Mutta vapuksi tulen kotiin ja vaikka en pikkumekkoon pukeutuisikaan, voisin tehdä tätä Iltalehdelle vapuksi kokkailemaani tuunattua perunasalaattia. Illan tunteina voi myös tanssahdella paikallisen perinnemusiikin konserteissa. Helsingin ja Tarton välinen lentoyhteys aloitetaan uudelleen 28. Lentoyhteys toimii viitenä päivänä viikossa ja lento kestää vajaan tunnin.

Alatskiven lumivalkoinen linna on seisonut uljaana paikallaan jo vuodesta 1885 lähtien.
